This minimalist house comprises a two storey, two bedroom mews dwelling within a back garden site in north west London. Its design puts the main living spaces on the first floor with bedrooms below, maximizing the access to light and view in this built up area. The structure of the house comprises a complex cantilevered steel frame to form the rendered living space volume at first floor level above the more solid stack bonded brickwork plinth.
The house was the recipient of ‘best house’ at the 2004 Brick Awards and 2004 Steel Awards, in addition to receiving the Camden Design Award.
